Las Vegas is a tournament my family and I enjoy going to each year. We lived in Vegas for a year and a half, in 1988 - '89, where I had two great milestones in my golf career. I received my PGA Class A Membership in 1988 while working at the Las Vegas Country Club as an assistant golf professional, and later that year I earned my first PGA TOUR card. While at Las Vegas Country Club, I learned that the game of golf is of great importance to the city of Las Vegas. The residents of Las Vegas take great pride in their local support of the PGA TOUR and the yearly golf tournament.

TPC Summerlin is the host course for the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open.  The course is a beautiful walk for spectators. There is an abundance of desert wildlife and breathtaking canyons on the course. Each hole is surrounded by beautiful desert style homes that are works of art. There is a nice balance between golf and nature, and the scenery provides much to take in for the spectators while they watch golf. TPC Summerlin is a good layout that can yield low scores when the wind isn't howling at twenty plus miles per hour. The scores are usually low and the winner has to be able to keep making birdies all the way to the finish.

It is always exciting to fly into Las Vegas at night and see all the bright city lights. There is an elegance and extravagance about a city in the desert that is more grandiose than anywhere you'll find in the world. Las Vegas offers numerous attractions all year round. “The Strip” in Las Vegas has fun entertainment, great restaurants, and an abundance of activities and casinos to choose from.  I look forward to the tournament in Las Vegas because there is a plethora of activity and entertainment in the city. This is a nice chance for players and their families to take in some of the many attractions they only get to experience once a year. Everything in Las Vegas is on a bigger-than-life scale, including the hotels, lights, water fountains and more. There are a multitude of hotel options, from New York New York, with a roller coaster inside the hotel, to the Venetian, which makes you feel as though you've arrived in Italy when you enter! There are many different educational and entertaining shows to choose from as well; for example, the Blue Man Group, and Disney's The Lion King. In addition to the live entertainment there are many different art galleries to visit as well as many outstanding outdoor attractions, such as Red Rock Canyon, and Hoover Dam, which, when it was built it was the largest concrete structure of its time, not to mention the spectacular view from the top of the dam!
